I’m from Australia, but the American Civil War has always held my interest (especially the seldom publized fact that women disguised as men to fight). Although the American death toll of the Vietnam War surpassed those who died in the American Civil War, it does not overide the fact the latter was countryman against countryman – that fact alone is heart-rending. This website is amazing, thankyou.

Roughly 1,264,000 American soldiers have died in the nation’s wars–620,000 in the Civil War and 644,000 in all other conflicts. It was only as recently as the Vietnam War that the amount of American deaths in foreign wars eclipsed the number who died in the Civil War.

People who hate to the point of killing another human are the worst plague of this world … unfortunately it is usually the rich & powerful who tell the rest of their population to fight & those people unfortunately listen … while the war instigators stay safe & watch
